Skirt With Waist Darts
Skirt Front
This skirt is made with flannel fabric and the front has four darts total, two on each side. Using my personal measurements, I made this skirt so that it can be comfortably worn sitting down and moving about. For the silhouette, I had made sure to hug the waist, curve out for hip room, and taper inwards at the bottom.
Skirt Side
This is the right side of the skirt, and I chose plaid to challenge myself to match the plaid along the seams. By carefully measuring and ensuring the fabrics were pinned well, I was able to create this effect.
Skirt Zipper
In order to hide the zipper from sight, I chose to use pick-stitch the lapped zipper so that the white threads and zipper could be hidden by the fabric. In addition to the zipper, I also hand-stitched the eye and hook at the waistband to ensure that the skirt would stay secure.
Skirt Hem
The hem of the skirt was two inches and I pick-stitched the laced hem to the inside, so that the threads would be hidden to create the smooth look in the front. I also lined the skirt with a white polycotton fabric.
